Naming our wee girl...

We've had various talks over the past few months about a name for Jiang Yu.
Each member of our family has offered their own preferences, suggestions and we even took a vote one night over dinner discussions. Leah seems to be the name that has withstood the test of time. We would like to keep one of her Chinese names and use it as a middle name, to retain her heritage. Yu means jade, and we like that one, too. Leah Yu Rudmann. We will finalize our decision when we meet her!

History of the name: I find the history of names very interesting, so here is more for you to learn about "Leah".
Some of you may know the use of Leah in the Old Testament of the Bible as the eldest daughter of Laban who was given deceitfully as the first wife for Jacob. We are told that her eyes were "tender" or "gentle". The Hebrews often used body parts to symbolize inner qualities or features of character. Leah held inner beauty, while Rachel (the 2nd wife to Jacob) is know for her outward beauty.
It seems that Leah was God's choice for Jacob as she was instrumental in carrying out His plans by mothering 6 sons and 1 daughter (Genesis 30:17-21). One of these sons, Judah, begat the line of David and Jesus, the promised Messiah. Leah is even mentioned by Moses as being buried with Jacob along with Issac, Rebekah, Abraham & Sarah at the cave "Machpelah".
In Ruth 4:11 we find that Leah is not forgotten by future generations when the elders spoke to Boaz about his wife to be (Ruth)..."May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel."
